What You Need To Know About The All New Microsoft 2019

There can be no doubt that the Microsoft Office suite has had a drastic effect on the working world as we know it. Anyone who has ever held a job of some kind has most likely made use of Microsoft Office.

From Excel spreadsheets for calculations or formulas to Word to PowerPoint, which clinched numerous world-changing deals.

Now as we enter into the second half of 2018, Microsoft has announced that we can expect the release of Microsoft Office 2019 sometime in the near future. Here are 6 things that you need to know about the release of Office 2019.

It Will Be Exclusive to Windows 10

Bad news for those of you still running Windows XP, Vista and 7, as Microsoft has announced that MS Office 2019 will be Windows 10  exclusive.

Hence, you won’t be able to use MS Office 2019 if you are still using any of the older versions of the Windows OS. Instead, you’d need to subscribe to Microsoft’s Office 365.

While Microsoft has been evasive about what features will come with MS Office 2019, chances are, users of MS Office 2019 can enjoy the same functionality that comes with Office 365.

After the release of MS Office 2019, new users can choose between Office 365 or 2019, as Microsoft will no longer be releasing any updates for the older versions of MS Office.

The Release Date Has Not Been Confirmed

Eager to get your hands on the latest iteration of Office 2019? Well, hold your horses, as Microsoft has yet to announce an actual release date for Office 2019. What we do know is that we can expect MS Office 2019 to be released on the 2nd half of 2018.

As Office 2016 was released towards the end of September, many speculators have mentioned that we can expect to look at a September-October release date as well.

If you are a commercial volume license holder, you can participate in the Office 2019 preview. If you are a commercial volume license holder, head on over to Microsoft’s official website to learn more.

Advanced Presentation Features

Anyone who has ever given a presentation of any sort will most likely be familiar with PowerPoint and its various features.

However, given the age of PowerPoint and the appearance of many newer variants of presentation software like Pretzi, chances are high that an increasing number of more tech-savvy IT users have chosen to make the switch to other software.

Fortunately, Microsoft has taken steps to update and improve new versions of PowerPoint after recognizing the age of their existing software.

For example, PowerPoint 2019 will come with features such as Morph and Zoom, which are already present in Office 365 at the moment. Furthermore, PowerPoint 2019 will also feature a range of more dynamic features that have not yet been announced by Microsoft.

However, given Microsoft’s reputation for innovation, we can expect PowerPoint 2019 to have some nifty features that will allow users to craft more dynamic and creative presentations.

Improved Data Analysis Features

When it comes to data management and number crunching, Excel is still the most effective program that comes to mind.

Thanks to the large array of formulas available, the user-friendly interface and steady support from Microsoft, Excel still reigns supreme beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Regular users of Excel will be happy to know that the 2019 iteration of this application promises even more features and a more user-friendly interface. For example, you can expect more formulas and new charts i.e. funnel charts, 2D maps to be added.

Furthermore, Microsoft has also announced support for Excel to Power BI publishing (Power BI being Microsoft’s in-house business analytics service), along with upgrades and enhancements for both PowerPivot and PowerQuery.

Overall, the list of upgrades and improvements for Excel 2019 should get users jumping up and down with joy and make data processing even easier than ever before.

Improved Email Management

Users of Outlook, Microsoft’s email management service, can also look forward to a range of upgrades coming with MS Office 2019. Microsoft has teased that users can expect the following features:

  • Updated contact cards

  • Office 365 groups

  • @mentions

  • Redesigned inbox

  • Travel package cards

Given the popularity of Outlook as an email management service provider, this new suite of upgrades is great news for all users and they can expect more effective and efficient email management.

One-time Purchase

Some of the criticisms received by Microsoft from the release of Office 365 was related to the new, Cloud-based subscription service, which sat uneasily with some users.

Without a doubt, some of us would be much more comfortable with a single-purchase agreement for software.

Along with this, Office 365’s Cloud-based system makes it difficult for organizations and users without access to the internet to take advantage of Office 365’s features.

Hence, in response to the feedback given by their clientele, Microsoft has announced that MS Office 2019 will feature “perpetual office” arrangement. In a nutshell, this means that you will only need to make a payment once for purchase of the software license.

From then onwards, users are free to use the software for as long as they desire, in stark contrast to Office 365’s software rental approach.

While some analysts have noted that Microsoft has expended much effort and investment into Office 365, Microsoft has promised future buyers that Office 2019 will have all of the key features present in Office 365.

Along with this, users of Office 2019 can also expect security improvements and upgrades, along with technical support in the form of patches and software updates.

As we await the release of Office 2019 with bated breath, what little information we have on the release of this iteration from Microsoft looks promising indeed.

From numerous software upgrades to new features, Microsoft is still most definitely one of the world’s most innovative and fast-moving software companies.
