Step #1: Enter BIOS
You must make sure your computer is set to boot from your DVD drive or from USB. To do this, insert your DVD installation disk and restart your PC. You may have a boot override menu on your computer accessed by pressing F10 on the keyboard. You will see the message while your computer is restarting. Press the key as soon as the message appears and select the bootable drive you want to use ( DVD or USB). In case you don’t have a boot override menu, go into the BIOS or UEFI Setup program. This is where you can change some minor settings in your computer. Entering setup can vary from one computer to another, but it is Delete, F2 or F10. You will need to press one of these as soon as your computer starts in order to enter setup. Pay attention as your computer starts. The right key will show up but it happens very fast. Although the menus for setup can vary from one computer to another, they are all laid out in the same logical fashion, so it should be easy to find what you need.
Step #2: Set your computer to boot from DVD or USB
Once you are in the setup menu, locate the boot section. This is where you will change the order of the boot. You’ll choose DVD or USB. Note that sometimes a USB will appear as a hard disk in the boot menu. If this happens, set hard disk as the first boot option, then go into the hard disk boot order sub-menu and move your USB boot disk to the top of the list. Select the “save” option and restart. Your PC will boot into the Windows 10 setup program.
Step #3: Choose Windows 10 clean install
When the Windows 10 setup program starts, choose your language, set the time and currency format, set input method, then choose “next.” Click the “install now” button. Enter your Windows key if you are prompted to do so. Accept the software licence, then in the next screen, select “Custom: Install Windows only (advanced).”
Step 4: How to find Windows 10 License Key
You will be asked for your licence key. What you use depends on the type of Windows 10 you have. If you're already on Windows 10 and want to know your license key, you can download ProduKey and extract your Windows 10 product key using this method. The key is embedded in the system. Write the key down and tuck it away safely. You may need it later.
If you bought Windows 10 from a store or as a download, you will already have a product key or license. If you are upgrading from Windows 7 or 8.1, you can use your Windows 7 or 8.1 product key or license as long as you created new boot media with the latest version of Windows 10. Your Windows 7 or 8.1 product key will be updated to a Windows 10 version.
Step #5: Choose your hard disk or SSD
You may see several different options depending on if you are installing on a clean drive or overwriting an existing OS. If it's a clean drive, you'll see a drive with unallocated space. Select next and Windows will begin the installation process.
If your disk has an operating system on it, or if you have more than one hard disk, you’ll see a screen with several disks and partitions. The disks will be called drive 0, drive 1, etc. If a disk has previously had a Windows installation, you will see that it is split into partitions. labeled “Recovery,” “System,” “MSR,” and “Primary.” Before you install Windows 10, you will have to delete the partitions by selecting each of them and clicking delete. This erases the data on the partitions so ensure you are deleting partitions from the correct drive. Be sure you’ve backed everything up first. This operation might delete the manufacturer's recovery partitions, and if that happens, you will not be able to return to the previous operating system. When you have deleted all the partitions, choose the drive where you want to install Windows 10 and press the “next” button to begin the installation.
