On October 10, 2017, mainstream support on Office for Mac 2011 came to an end. Customers and resellers can still use or resell Office for Mac 2011, but there are just a few things to keep in mind:

  • Microsoft no longer supplies non-security hotfixes for Office for Mac 2011, unless you have an extended support agreement
  • All warranty claims end
  • Microsoft no longer accepts requests for new features and design changes

What is Mainstream Support?

Mainstream Support is the first phase of support that Microsoft provides for most of its products and services. It lasts for five years and includes the following:

    • Incident support (including no charge, paid and warranty claims)
  • Security updates
  • Ability to request hotfixes that are not security-related

This means that even if it’s no longer under mainstream support. This means that even if it’s no longer under mainstream support, it’s still legal for vendors to resell the software.
